The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and Cybersecurity San Antonio welcomed U.S. Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) via zoom during the monthly Cybersecurity Council meeting last week.

Industry leaders and council participants engaged in thoughtful discussion with Congressman Gonzales on various issues pertaining to San Antonio’s cyber industry, including bridging the gap between large and small businesses’ access to cybersecurity; the evolving connections between industry and education providers in teaching cybersecurity; and educating our local, state, and federal elected officials on cybersecurity awareness through collaboration with the private sector.

“Thank you to the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Cybersecurity Council for inviting me to speak with them at their April meeting,” said Congressman Gonzales. “Bridging the gap between the public and private sector is critical to addressing the cyber threats facing Texas and our nation. I look forward to working with the Chamber and its members to continue to distinguish San Antonio as a leader in the Cybersecurity sector.”

“It is clear Congressman Gonzales continues to value the Chamber’s Cybersecurity Council’s collective expertise and passion for improving the industry in San Antonio and the region,” said Richard Perez, President and CEO, San Antonio Chamber of Commerce.  “His insight and dedication to San Antonio’s cybersecurity community is an invaluable asset to our collaborative efforts to make our community’s ecosystem second to none.”

The discussion with Congressman Gonzales comes after the recent SA to DC trip, an annual fly-in to our nation’s capital, where San Antonio business and elected leaders travel to Washington, D.C. to meet with federal agencies, the administration, and elected officials to advocate for the needs of our community.
